Obi-Wan writer Kenobi reveals his frustration with the Disney + series

Obi-Wan Kenobi Writer Andrew Stanton admits he felt some frustration while writing the Disney + Star Wars series. Stanton is best known for his writing on Pixar films such as Finding Nemo And the Wall-EIt won an Academy Award and is the first Pixar film to be added to the Criterion Collection’s library. However, while working on Obi-Wan KenobiStanton felt limitations he did not feel in his other writings. Talking to io9, Stanton recalls how exciting it can be to write dialogue for such iconic characters as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, but the pressure of always having to ask, “Does this fit the law?” “It feels ‘bittersweet,'” he says.[The reason that happens is] Because people care, but he also kind of doesn’t, at times, allow things to venture beyond where they should probably tell a better story. So it can sometimes really get in the way of what I think are better narrative choices.”

Stanton continues, “So I got frustrated sometimes – not so much – but I felt like it wasn’t appropriate. [the story]. So I love it when something like Andor is in a safe place. And he can do whatever he wants. But I felt like, you know, Gobi [Harold, Obi-Wan Kenobi co-writer and executive producer]He, to his credit, kept the flame alive and kept trying to thread the needle so the story wouldn’t be affected, but that would please all the people who were trying to keep it in the canon. But I have some happy moments there.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi It caused some controversy within the Star Wars fandom about certain aspects of the canon. This includes how many people know about Darth Vader and that he is the fallen Jedi Kate, and Anakin Skywalker, the old Padawan of Obi-Wan. This is a problem born out of writing a series between two of the film’s primary trilogy, about two of the primary characters in those trilogy.

As Stanton hints, Andor He does not have this problem. Instead, it follows a character who has had only one previous appearance in a minor film through rarely explored corners of the Star Wars universe beyond the main direction of the Skywalker Saga. Conversely, this lack of iconic characters and connections to the core Star Wars trilogy may be the reason behind it. Andor It doesn’t attract the same number of viewers as previous Disney+ Star Wars shows.

Obi-Wan Kenobi It is now streaming on Disney+. Andor New episodes debut weekly on Wednesdays on Disney+.
