Heading to Crown Jewel, Logan Paul has only had two professional wrestling matches under his belt. He over-presented both, and the trend continued yesterday in Saudi Arabia at Crown Jewel when he delivered a main event alongside Roman Reigns that was much better than he had any right to. Both fans and fellow wrestlers have taken to social media to express just how attractive and natural in-ring talent the social media star has shown in his loss. Unfortunately, the cost of performance turned out to be prohibitive.
Logan Paul apparently tore his MCL, meniscus, and possibly the ACL. He made a bleak announcement On his social media After the match he will keep fans updated when he gets more information. Since it’s happened halfway across the globe from where he lives, it may take a bit before we figure out what a surgery and/or rehabilitation schedule might look like, but most of it will likely depend on how severe the tear is and whether it’s injured. The anterior cruciate ligament as well.
However, even with the disappointing injury, it’s hard, as a fan, to be excited about Logan Paul and his potential at the moment. We don’t know all the details about his contract with WWE, but if he commits to being a full-time professional wrestler at some point, he could be one of the best players in the entire business. It’s just the perfect blend of raw athleticism and showmanship. Professional wrestling has a certain pace and timing that many actors don’t fully capture, and he has it naturally. It reminds me of Kurt Angle this way: an amazing athlete with an innate sense of when to move fast and when to milk the crowd.
That timing was exactly on display last night when Logan Paul went up the ropes and threw a splash of frogs for the ages, while holding his cell phone. It was even better than the one he gave The Miz at SummerSlam, the video from his phone has since gone viral and for obvious reasons. Check out this madness…
Logan Paul has now played three full matches in WWE, and they have all been a bang. First, he tagged next to The Miz at WrestleMania and looked so good that he made die-hard wrestling fans admit there was something in there. He delivered loads of great moves, worked on a tricky camera, and pissed off audiences with three amigos a la Eddie Guerrero. After that, he had his first singles match against The Miz at SummerSlam, and surprise surprise, it was awesome too. The crowd was audibly against him when the match started, but at the end, they were cheering for him and celebrating the end.
This match with Roman Reigns was, in my opinion, the best of the three. I’m not saying it was Bret Hart and Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13, but it was a fun main event that fans will remember well. This is actually an impressive feat given that the outcome was never in doubt, as WWE would never let Roman Reigns lose to someone who has had 3 matches in his career. But the two guys had enough fun places and told a good enough story that we were able to put it all aside and enjoy the ride. Also, Logan Paul threw a Picture perfect shot lariat That I watched like 10 times. So, that helped.
Crossed Fingers This is the first of many major events for Logan Paul in upcoming premium live events, which are broadcast exclusively in the US with a Peacock subscription.
