Next James Bond: Luke Evans praises Daniel Craig for ending the ‘Roger Moore era’ | movies | entertainment

This weekend, Welsh star Luke Evans performs on the BBC’s talent show Strictly Come Dancing. The performer is a jack of all trades, as he has not only made waves in the music industry with his solo career but has become a household name with his acting prowess. But for the longest time, he was a very lively replacement for James Bond actor Daniel Craig, who stepped down from the role last year.

In a recent interview, Evans spoke candidly about what he loved about Craig’s performance as 007.

In particular, he praised the character’s evolution from a womanizer into a human figure. The Lord of the Rings star said, “We’re not into Roger Moore [era] Where he sleeps with five women in every movie, that’s not what he’s about anymore… I think people are more interested in the scene, the story.”

This theory was illustrated in the final moments of No Time To Die, when Craig’s 007 sacrificed himself to save his partner, Madeleine Swan, and their daughter Mathilde.

Evans is a fan of the series and has praised Craig’s endless era. He once said, “It’s huge. What are they going to do next? They’re so cool, I love movies and whoever gets the role is going to have very big shoes to fill.”

He himself has been very vocal in the past about how to “grab the chance” to become the next James Bond.

The character is back for a revolution in his next version, and Evans believes it could bring a new flavor to the character.

At the time of writing, Evans is not among the cast of actors topping Bond prospects from Ladbrokes.

He is currently 1/20 in claiming the 007 role, behind some of the bigger names.

Heading the list is Netflix’s heartthrob Reggie Jane Page, who scored 11/4 in becoming the new and improved James Bond.

However, the British-Zimbabwean actor himself said that the rumors about his transformation into 007 are nothing more than “flattering”.

Meanwhile, The Witcher actor Henry Cavill is close to Page 3/1.

Given that Cavill previously went up against Craig for the role of James Bond prior to the launch of Casino Royale, he certainly was looking forward to claiming it again.

However, with his contract now renewed by Warner Bros to play Superman again, he may not have enough time to embody the spy.

James Bond No Time To Die is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
