Disney and Sony Pictures seem to have settled their differences when it comes to character sharing – or at least for the most part. A new report indicates that Sony and Disney have yet to agree on two main characters from the world of Spider-Man – and they are definitely the pivotal characters that fans wanted to see!
according to directDisney and Sony can’t come to a definitive agreement about the characters of Wilson Fisk (aka The Kingpin) and Jessica Drew (aka Spider-Woman), ostensibly both characters in Limbo are stranded for being owned by both studios. This obviously makes using any of the characters a bit tricky for every studio, legally speaking, and given the plans already in place at both studios, that’s an issue that needs to be addressed sooner, before that later.
Why is Kingpin the character of “Spider-Man”?
Marvel fans around the world now know Wilson Fisk/Kingpin as Daredevil’s enemy, thanks to the Netflix series Daredevil, and the masterful portrayal of actor Vincent D’Onofrio. However, Kingpin’s first appearance in the comic book was as a crime lord character in The Amazing Spider-Man No. 50 (July 1967). It wasn’t until the eighties of the last century reckless Where the ruthless Kingpin we know formed. So, in terms of legal techniques, Kingpin is a character that belongs to the Spider-Man Universe.

Why is Jessica Drew from Disney and Sony a problem
The origins of Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman in Marvel Comics go back to the late 1970s. It was the original Spider-Woman who had her own solo sitcom (Out of Muddled Focus), which fell out of favor in the late ’80s. The character was killed and shelved until the early 2000s, when Drew was brought back as a member of Marvel’s New Avengers Comic series. Jessica Drew cemented her place in the Marvel lore in the 21st century when it was revealed that she was the Queen of Skrull in disguise, during the “Secret Invasion” storyline. The “real” Jessica Drew was then reintroduced, and has since become a staple in the Marvel’s Avengers franchise.
Jessica Drew is a character Sony already uses: Issa Rae voices Drew’s version of Spider-Woman in the animated sequel Spider-Man: Through the Spider’s Web In 2023 (led by a female spider woman Popup is also in the works). Sony also has live action Madame Web A movie is in the works, which could be a famous actress (Sydney Sweeney?) already cast as Drew. Madame Web Sony’s game to create a larger Spider-Man franchise could well be knit under its own roof. Bumping heads with Marvel on Jessica Drew, once again, wouldn’t be good for either studio, as Marvel has its own plans for Spider-Man, the next stage of Avengers, and a Secret Invasion story — any of which could feature Jessica Drew.
In the end, Marvel and Sony struck a historic deal to get Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU, and even struck a disastrous deal collapse in 2019 to get Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU. Spider-Man: There is no room for home made. Hope they can solve this too.
