Star Trek reveals another encounter between Picard and Cisco

Many Star Trek fans will remember the encounters between Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the Commander. Benjamin Cisco Star Trek: Deep Space NinePilot episode, “The Envoy”. Star Trek revealed that this wasn’t the only meeting between the two iconic Star Trek captains. spoilers for Star Trek #1 by Jackson Lansing, Colin Kelly, Ramon Rozanas, Lee Loughridge, and Clayton Collis. Benjamin Sisko, sent into physical existence by the Prophets, has returned with a new mission. However, for this mission, he needs a ship and crew. So, he looks to Picard for help, which comes as much of a surprise to Jean-Luc as it might to fans.

Picard and Cisco’s first meeting was tense. Sisko lost his wife during Battle of Wolf 359, when Picard became Locutus, and led the Borg guild toward Earth. Sisko bore a grudge and resented his mission in Deep Space 9. However, after meeting the Prophets for the first time, Sisko gained a new perspective. Picard met on less combative terms and accepted command of the space station.

This history is why Sisko is looking for Picard, specifically, for his outreach to Starfleet. Picard is confused at first. However, Star Trek #1 shows Sisko indicating that his time in the wormhole with the Prophets is similar to Picard’s time with the Borg, and may lead to some mistrust, which might be plausible. Sisko and Picard now know what it’s like to be hacked by an outside entity.

This conversation is enough to make Picard agree to give Sisko a ship, but he has a condition: that Data join Sisko as first officer aboard the USS Theseus, as there could be little better than him to ensure that Sisko acts rationally in his command. Dr. Beverly Crusher also joins Theseus’ crew, fascinated by what Sisko has witnessed and what she might become. Speaking to ComicBook.com about the new series in a previous interview, writers Lanzing and Kelly explained how they chose Data and Crusher to be members of Sisko’s crew.

“We knew we needed the data because if you had a protagonist who fell to the woof and weaved the impossible to describe, and you were going to have a leader who focused on that kind of energy, you needed a second to help keep him in the box,” Lansing said. Someone needs to put their feet on the ground so they can squeeze you in.”

As for Dr. Crusher, Lansing added, “We thought it was really time for her to get in her own car, to have a place to do her work, to live her own investigation. One of the things I’ve always loved about Beverly Crusher is that she’s kind of a scientist.” The crazy one. The only time we see her really excited about anything other than motherhood is when she meets a scientist she’s a huge fan of, whom she saw at that convention once. She loves that stuff. What’s a bigger medical mystery than Benjamin Sisko? This is a guy who just spent three Years in a basic state of space-time extraction and he returned a physical and mental change. What is this? Who is this? And should this person pilot a spaceship? I think if you need to answer those questions, you put Beverly Crusher in the seat next to him, and make sure someone is there. There, and not just a check to see if he’s sane and aware, because you have Da ta for that sort of thing, but to make sure he’s still human or that if he’s not human, what he is and he can handle that.”

Star Trek #1 is now on sale. Star Trek #2 will go on sale November 30th. first substring, Star Trek: The ChallengeIt will be launched in March.
