The Christmas season is one of the most popular times in Walt Disney World. Seeing the parks filled with seasonal decorations and music changes the vibe of the whole resort, and with so many people taking time off from work or school, it’s as good a time as any to go, but if you’re thinking of a quick trip to Disney for your own vacation, it’s better Act quickly, as the parks are filling up.
Quick look at Booking calendar for Walt Disney World He explains that the Magic Kingdom is already quite full for the period from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve. Disney’s Hollywood Studios does not have any available reservations from the day after Christmas through the end of December. In fact, on New Year’s Eve, the only park available is Disney’s Animal Kingdom. DAK is also the only park that doesn’t open until midnight on New Year’s Eve.
This is the case for both regular ticket holders and those who book through their Walt Disney World Resort hotel. There is good news for Annual Pass holders as all of the parks are still available to them for now, but that may start to change as we get closer to Christmas. Walt Disney World and Disneyland are currently dealing with lawsuits regarding the availability of reservations for annual pass holders
Guests who purchase Park Hopper tickets can still access one of the currently restricted theme parks if they make a reservation at a park that has availability, and after 2 p.m. they can move to another park, including one where no other reservations are available.
While things get busy at Disney World, the Disneyland Resort is still available for Christmas at both theme parks. It’s possible that part of the reason for this is the fact that, for the first time, all versions of the Anniversary Pass, known as the Magic Key there, were banned the week of Christmas. This means that only regular ticket holders can enter. And that could mean that Disneyland ends up being a lot less crowded than usual, but we could also see so many people buying tickets that it ends up being completely crowded, which is probably what we’d hope from Disney.
With The Walt Disney Company in new hands, it will be interesting to see how things change in terms of theme park capacity. Plenty of things left that were changed to make concessions to the global pandemic, for ostensibly good reasons, to prevent the parks from being overcrowded so that all guests have a good experience. It will definitely be interesting to see what this Christmas season looks like.
For those who want to avoid the crowds, the period immediately following the holiday season tends to drop in attendance, and booking calendars indicate that there is currently plenty of space starting on New Year’s Day and moving forward. And there are plenty of new attractions planned for Disney World in 2023 and beyond.
