Among those fans is Marvel star Simu Liu. On Tuesday, the Shang-Chi star took to Twitter to pay tribute to Frank, writing that “this legend played a huge role in my childhood.”
“I’ve never been able to fully quantify the extent of my brain over JDF’s death,” Liu wrote. “This legend played a big part in my childhood. He gave so much of himself to the fans and seemed really happy. Reach out to your friends and family. Don’t be afraid to talk to someone!”

Another tribute to Jason David Frank
On Monday, David Yost, who played the original Blue Ranger Billy, shared his appreciation for Frank, writing “Like so many of us, I still go through everything. From the day we met we became instant friends. Ups and downs as friends do. He always enjoyed it.” With my heart and my support. I love you, buddy!” Original Black Ranger Walter Emanuel Jones was also brief: “[C]I can’t believe it… My heart is saddened by the loss of another member of our special family.”
“Hey Jas, you were really beautiful and unique,” said Pink Ranger Amy Jo Johnson, Johnson began. “My life wouldn’t be the same without this frantic, funny, caring, stimulating and creative energy ball. I will always love you my dear friend. Please rest in peace now.”
Frank passed away at the age of 49 on Saturday, November 19 and was confirmed dead TMZ. In a statement, a representative for Frank asked for privacy for his family and friends during this difficult time.
“Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this terrible time as we deal with the loss of such a wonderful human being,” the actor said. “He loved his family, friends and fans so much. We will really miss him.”
