A 28-year-old man who fell into the sea from the Carnival cruise ship a few hours ago was found to have fallen off the ship. The unknown man spent more than 15 hours at sea near the Gulf of Mexico.

According to one of the man’s brothers, they were on board the Carnival of Valor and he decided to go to the bathroom, not to be seen again until he was rescued from the sea.

He was not immediately reported missing
The man’s sister did not report the missing person until the next day, and immediately the ship had to trace the route of the ship from which it was traveling. New Orleans to Cozumel.
Carnival let the authorities know about the incident around 2:30 p.m., and the US Coast Guard immediately launched a rescue mission to clear an area of 200 miles including sea and land.

They found him with signs of hypothermia
Eventually, authorities found the passenger in 70-degree water 20 miles south of Southwest Passage in Louisiana at 8:25, apparently because another vessel had sighted the passenger. When he was rescued, he was suffering from hypothermia, shock and dehydration, and he said it was not clear how the accident happened.
And he was taken to the hospital
After he was rescued, he was taken to a New Orleans hospital for a full medical evaluation and so far he is in a very stable condition.
Lieutenant Gross made a statement to the press
Lt. Gross also told CNN, “I think it kind of hits the norm, the normal, out of the water here, and really shows that the will to live is something that needs to be reckoned with in every search and rescue situation,”
“It could realistically have been in the water for over 15 hours before we were able to successfully rescue him,” Gross concluded.
