The actor’s rage has been well documented by writer-director Richard Curtis, co-star Emma Thompson, and even Grant himself, especially when it came to this dance. Grant told Sawyer:

He kept saying no. I think he was hoping I would get sick or something, and he was like, “What a shame, we have to lose that dance sequence.” … Oh he was angry. He was angry. But he knew it was a contractual obligation. A bit of contractual obligation acting.
Longtime fans of the film will likely say it’s worth fighting the director, but Richard Curtis admitted he was “painfully embarrassed” when he saw Hugh Grant film the dance number.
