Conners has cast an SNL icon as the mom to Katey Sagal’s Louise

in its fifth season, Conners She’s made some big moves with her major husbands, with updates like these flowing in temporary positive and negative ways for everyone involved. It’s also proving to be another big winner for the season when it comes to guest stars, with shamelessEthan Cutkosky reunited with former co-star Emma Kenny, runaways And the Repeatedly vet ever carradine, and last appearance from Always excellent Roseanne A vet herself, Estelle Parsons. It was known that a surprise was on the way for Louise and Neville’s mom, and now we know that SNL Legend and sitcom queen Jane Curtan will bring decades of her comedic style to life on the ABC sitcom.

John Goodman and Laurie Metcalfe both have previous connections to him Saturday Night Live, but they were able to welcome the slick comedy when Emmy Award winner Jane Star recently joined the show to film the upcoming Christmassy episode “The Dog Days of Christmas,” which is set to air Wednesday, December 7, and will air as the mid-season finale. Most importantly: We don’t even have to wait an entire week to see it in action!

The curtain will be taken over by the role of Doris Goldevsky, according to the cast TVLineAnd while no other details about the character have been revealed, the first-look photos ABC released from the episode make it seem like Doris and Louise are on better, happier terms than those of Louise and Bev’s relationship. Look at those smiling faces! And the fact that Doris is holding back food and at least one gift! Unless she happens to be lugging food and someone else’s bag on her way to visit, Doris might actually be a loving and traditional mother. Which will no doubt be a confusing thought for Dan, since he’s used to having a blunt and judgmental mother-in-law. Just look at him in the photo below and decide for yourself how comfortable or uncomfortable he is.

I love how creepy Louise and Doris’ smiles were halfway through that shot. You can here almost exclaim under a breath: “One of us! One of us!”
