WWE reveals Kofi Kingston as the first Superstar for the Royal Rumble match

Tonight’s WWE SmackDown packed all sorts of surprises, including the first entrant in the Royal Rumble match. A backstage clip featured New Day’s Kofi Kingston, and while he was later going to have a huge match against Gunther, he took a moment to announce that he was the first entrant in the men’s Royal Rumble match. Now there are 29 more revelations to come, but it’s good that we already have someone to lock him in, because the Royal Rumble isn’t far away. The Rumble kicks off on January 28, 2023, and now the guessing game begins as to who will join Kofi in the ring for one of WWE’s biggest events of the year.

With 30 slots to fill in both the men’s and women’s games, you can expect plenty to be included from the current roster, especially after the recent spate of callbacks and returns. SmackDown alone now has Legado del Fantasma, Hit Row, Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Emma, Braun Strowman, and Bray Wyatt, and Raw will be adding names like Johnny Gargano, Mia Yim, and Candice LeRae.

Then you have to find other names like Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul, who are both injured now but could recover in time for the big event. Becky Lynch has also just made a big comeback from an injury at WarGames, and Charlotte has also been teasing to get back in the ring after her recent absence.

Then of course there are the rumors of The Rock being involved, who was part of the long rumored match with Roman Reigns that many wanted to see. This is purely in the realm of speculation at the moment, but if it happens at WrestleMania 39, you can definitely expect something to kick in at the Rumble.

The Rumble is also a perfect place to bring back some fan favorites and legends, and after last year, we might even see a crossover for the company, like what happened with Impact Wrestling’s Mickie James. She even had the Impact Women’s Championship with her, so who knows what could happen this time around with Triple H now running the show.
