next to whom Terrifying 2which I haven’t seen myself, however Fans were throwing up in movie theatersAnd the bones and all It might be the most gruesome 2022 movie release. Call me by your name Director Luca Guadagnino, really He went there With that being said, as it follows two teenage cannibals who find each other on the road, they are both disapproving of their flesh-eating antics. But beneath all the blood and guts, it also found a sticky center of twisted romance led by Timothée Chalamet. I need to talk about it
bones and all Ignite a lot of passions along the way. I’m going to detail my emotional journey for the movie, but yeah, that includes Major spoiler. If you can bear the bloody movie itself, check that out first before reading on.
disgust
Now I’ve watched a lot of horror movies with brutal and bloody killings, but I can’t shake my sensitivity or not hold back at the image of someone biting someone’s finger, as Maren Taylor Russell did at the beginning of this movie while he was in a high school dorm. The moment totally got me going, but I didn’t hold a candle to what I was about to see about 20 minutes later. When Marin meets Sully from Mark Rylance, and together they feast on an old grandmother before he shows her a long lock of hair from all the humans he’s eaten. I wasn’t sure I would get into this movie. Knowing now that they were eating cherries, chocolate and fruit in the group makes me feel better.
puzzled
As much as a part of me wanted to cover my eyes from all the horrors of what was being set up for Marine Taylor Russell, I was also fascinated by the story being set up. I was at a loss as to what would make Marin so thirsty for human blood and how she would get out and survive in a world of such inclination. Especially when I listened to her father’s tape of how he discovered her identity and we met Sully, there was a mixture of confusion and interest in the cannibal lore this movie was trying to prove. And in my opinion, bones and all, falls slightly short of world building. Cannibalism is a gene? In retrospect, I’d better treat it as an exaggerated metaphor for altruism.
sympathy
bones and all Then it made me even more invested when Lee from Timothée Chalamet met up with Maren and they both realized they ate. As the pair of cannibals get to know each other, stick together through their wandering wilderness journeys and learn their heartbreaking backstories, I find myself finding empathy for these two lonely cannibals. naturally, it’s fantasy, I’m allowed!
One moment I particularly stuck with was when Marin and Lee were hanging out in a barn and Marin points out that all the cows before her had families who would miss them once they were slaughtered for food. The scene really put into perspective how regular meat-eaters can be viewed negatively, because they consume life, but because we have likened the animals we eat to having no free will and even less, not being seen as murder.
terrorism
One of the two terrifying scenes Bones and everything It builds for Maren to finally find and meet her mother (played by Chloe Sevigny) after living her entire life without knowing who she is. The moment Maren checked into her mother’s mental institution for the first time, I was hopeful it might be a tearful reunion, but wow, I was wrong. When Marin walked in, she found that her mother’s arms were kernels and was ready to eat herself before Marin hurriedly left. I can’t even imagine the sheer sadness of meeting a parent in this state and trying to eat you. It looks comical now, but this scene was terrifying to see through Marin’s eyes.
hopefull
no wonder Timothée Chalamet’s fans ended up rolling the rug In this movie, he is a great actor. After Marin leaves for a bit, she finds Lee and confesses her love for him, and he confesses that he ate his father entirely “bones and everything” after he was so bloodthirsty for him and his sister. When the couple decided to settle down in one place, get an apartment together and regular jobs, I felt hopeful that these cannibals could make it in the world despite their difference, framing them as hereditary in the movie, and a lifelong pain. Perhaps, they can find happiness and break the cycle of their parents.
Worry
Then Sully returns, straight to her peaceful haven away from the terrors of the world. And let me say, the entire movie I had a fundamental concern for Sully. He clearly has a strange infatuation with Marin, given the revelation just before that, that he has followed her ever since he met her. When he broke into her house and then tucked her onto the bed, she was so nervous about what was going to happen. Luckily, Lee walked in the door with groceries and they dropped him off together.
Sadnes
I couldn’t believe it, but tears started to flow when we learned that Lee had been stabbed by Sully as he died in Marin’s arms. And while she’s trying to get him to go to the ER, he’s already given up and he must know she can’t go to the hospital in the state he’s in without asking any questions. He asks her to “love me, eat me”. And it is. Thank God they didn’t show everything, but I didn’t expect what Luca Guadagnino called it “a beautiful love story” To feel it, though, is incredibly tragic. No wonder that review Bones and everything It was very positive.
awe
As the end credits rolled, I was in awe of the direction of the movie Bones and everything. The story could easily have been a loathsome, ironic romance about cannibals, and hey, in some ways. But it made me feel a lot and I really liked the rhythm and development of Marin and Lee. Shows that a good script, great performances, and an eye like Luca Guadagnino can make cannibals fall in love make me feel all kinds of emotions.
While I’m still getting over the WTF ghost Bones and everythingAnd I don’t necessarily recommend it to everyone I see, I’ve found my experiences watching the movie in theaters to be memorable and affecting.
