When Palmer opened up, she noticed a number of comments calling her “ugly” because she decided not to wear makeup for the outing. The actress reminded People that āmakeup is not realā and emphasized that she is ābeautiful in real lifeā and not just because of her looks.
This comes after Keke Palmer posted a selfie of herself in 2020 without makeup to share that she’s been dealing with polycystic ovary syndrome her entire life. Through the post, I shared a long journey of getting it right by doing things like taking Acutane, dieting etc. I posted it to let others dealing with acne like this know that they are not only alone, but “still OK.”
Unfortunately, due to the beauty standards that society continues to impose, women are often pressured and shamed into wearing makeup just to feel natural. Keke Palmer had to deal with this right after a night out with her boyfriend. She shouldn’t be criticized and made to feel bad for being herself. The actress made an adorable statement, saying that “It’s really crazy to say anyone is ugly, but especially me.”
