Lord of the Rings fans can now book a stay on the Hobbiton movie sets via Airbnb

Airbnb is moving to Middle-earth. As part of a promotional campaign to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the An Unexpected Journeythe rental app announced that the original Hobbiton movie collection, as seen in the Lord of the Rings Triple f The hobbit Movie franchise, it will be available for rent. However, there is a catch, this is not a contest and it will require you to not only be in New Zealand to take part in your stay, plus you will need to beat other Tolkien fans trying to book a holiday too. But the good news is that one night is only $6 a night!

Bookings for the property will open at 10am NZT (4pm ET), with only three sets of dates available to book including: March 2-4, March 9-11, and March 16-18. In addition to an overnight stay at “The Millhouse,” a two-bedroom house inspired by hobbits, attendees will have exclusive access to the 44 permanently constructed Hobbit Holes and other well-loved locations in The Shire. Those who get the chance to stay will enjoy:

  • Private access to a personal Hobbit Hole, set up for relaxing moments of Preciousss™ stops and afternoon tea.
  • Evening banquet at The Green Dragon Inn with a feast featuring beef and beer soup, whole roast chicken, fresh bread and plenty of beer, plus Second Breakfast™ and Elevenses™ served daily.
  • A special behind-the-scenes tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set to explore the trio’s making techniques.

Despite the recent success of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, you won’t find any connection between your stay in Hobbiton and the Amazon Prime Video series. Plus the show is set a few hundred years before the events of The Lord of the Rings, which means that The Shire and Hobbits aren’t technically a thing, being produced by completely different studios.

Earlier this year, it was reported that the movie and game rights to The Lord of the Rings franchise would go up for auction, something Warner Bros. disputed. at that time. Months later, it was announced that Embracer Group had acquired the rights to their IPs the Lord of the Rings And the The hobbitand claiming the worldwide rights to motion pictures. At Warner Bros. And New Line Cinema is an animated film set in Middle-earth that is scheduled for release in 2024, The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim.
