Today, at 5:20pm, Arnold Schwarzenegger hits the Channel 4 screens in the Christmas classic Jingle All The Way. The 1996 movie was one of his firsts which showed that he not only had a strong side in his acting but also had some comedic talents as well. Unfortunately for him, Arnie hasn’t always had an easy experience in Hollywood. During the 1970s, he found himself feuding with Rocky star Sylvester Stallone. One episode saw him dodge an attack at the dinner table.
At the time, Sly had just made his acting debut as the legendary boxer when he attended the Golden Globe Awards in 1977. Rocky was up for a number of awards at the ceremony, so Sylvester was excited to win a slew of awards – but that didn’t Exactly happens. Instead, Rocky kept losing out to other films.
To add insult to injury, Arnie sat across from him at the dinner table. And he found great pleasure in watching Sylvester lose. He even begins to mock Sylvester for his losses.

“I managed to get hold of this giant flower pot,” Sylvester recalls. “And he shot it in his direction. It had lilies and flowers in it… It started a ten-year battle royale. And I thought: ‘The gauntlet fell off.'”
Sly remembers that Arnie evaded this assault, but it was this act of aggression that started a vicious feud between the two powerful men that would last for decades.
He even described their relationship as “violent hate” and noted that they “couldn’t bear to be in the same galaxy together”.
Their disdain for each other spilled over onto the big screen, too. The movie Arnie’s Twins was a parody of his character from a Rambo poster. While Sylvester defeated an Arnie lookalike in Tango & Cash. Stallone even admitted that he “imagined it was Arnold” during filming.
The real humiliation came when they tried to steal movie roles from each other.

However, Arnie had the last laugh here. He remembered receiving the script for ‘Whoa! Or My Mom Will Shoot’ in 1992. He recalled thinking it was “a piece of s**t” — and he wasn’t wrong. It received horrible reviews and was a box office bomb. He told Jimmy Fallon after Years: “I tell myself, ‘I’m not going to do this movie.
Sylvester asked Arnie: “Have they ever talked to you about doing this movie?” Arnie replied, “Yeah, I’ve been thinking about doing that. That’s a really cool idea, this movie.”
Sylvester wasn’t going to let Arnie get a movie contract over him, so he fought hard to get the role while Arnie dropped out. He got his wish, and the movie flopped at the box office – seriously – grossing $70 million at the box office. Sylvester looked back at Arnie’s ruse to say, “I’ve been trying to get back at Arnold, I heard he’d do it.” [the film] He said: Haha, I deceived you!
Arnie recently revealed the truth about this hilarious turn of events.
Arnie asserted: “It’s 100 percent true. In those days we did all kinds of crazy things to get our rivalry going. Luckily for us and everyone else, today, we’re cheering each other on. Thank God, because we certainly don’t ever need to.” Another stop! Or my mom will get shot.”
However, the pair eventually made up. “Now, we realize we are the same person,” Sylvester later admits. “We are great friends.”
Since then, they’ve appeared in three movies together: The Expendables 2, The Expendables 3, and Escape Plan.
