when it comes to Marvel Cinematic Universe – or maybe even a file Rebuilding the DC Universe with James Gunn – There are a lot of possible romantic relationships. And although I know most of us would love to watch some The best romantic comedies There is, sometimes, we really want to see romance in our superhero movies — specifically, romance and LGBTQ+ representation.
Those behind our favorite movies have made great moves recently to bring representation to the big screen in terms of superheroes, such as introducing America Chavez and her mothers in doctor strange in the multiverse of madness, or Fastus and his wife V eternalAnd the But there’s always room for more, and these are some LGBTQ+ comic book couples, like Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, that we’d love to see come to life on the big screen.
Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy
This comes directly from Margot Robbie’s recent comments about her The desire to revive this relationship in living life. While Robbie has portrayed Harley Quinn for several years now, he’s never shown her a female romantic interest – and one of her best DC Comics relationships is with fellow villain, Poison Ivy.
For those who don’t know, there’s a show on HBO Max called Now Harley Quinn That’s all about the famous Wonder Woman, and it’s been like that lately It has been renewed for a fourth season. Harley and Ivy are very much together on this show, but so far, we haven’t seen them together on the big screen. To be honest, this would be the best relationship that could turn out, since Ivy is always there with Harley in the comics.
Batwoman and Renee Montoya
Ah, what could it have been.
while cancelled Batwoman The series was Renee Montoya cast for season 3The show ended before anything could happen between her and Batwoman. In DC Comics, these two are basically the best and work side by side when Renee is murdered and framed for murder, which is how their relationship really began.
Look, here’s the thing – Renee Montoya I was in wild birdsAnd the Played by Rosie Perez, but Batwoman definitely wasn’t. And considering the future of the DCEU is kind of up in the air right now With all movie cancellations, One can only hope that somewhere down the line, these two might end up crossing paths again.
Hulkling and Wiccan
I am counting the days until I can see this day. Arguably one of Marvel’s most beloved LGBTQ+ couples, these two have been together Since the Young Avengers I started in comics. What makes them so incredibly sweet is that there is no toxicity between the two types whatsoever — they are truly They care about each other, to the point where they are married in the comics.
While Wiccan has been introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe Across WandaVisionAnd the We haven’t seen Hulkling yet. But, with the universe changing and expanding all the time, I think now would be the perfect time to bring it up – Taking into account the Strong woman just happened, Let’s bring in more Hulks. why not?
Midnighter and Apollo
I’ve gone to hours In the past about both Midnighter and Apollo. when i spoke About LGBTQ+ heroes Which I want to see on the big screen, they were two of my top picks — and of course, they’re a couple.
Basically, think of Midnighter and Apollo as LGBTQ+ versions of Batman and Superman. One has no powers but is just a genius, the other is a literal sun god who can kill you with a snap of his fingers thanks to the aliens, and together they work like magic. They are absolutely adorable together and make not only a great partnership but also a great romantic relationship. I’m still waiting for them to be introduced in the DC movies, but maybe we’ll get them before much longer.
Rictor and Shatterstar
There is a greater chance of this happening now than ever before, keeping in mind the X-Men It was absorbed by Disney And she will undoubtedly appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point. Rictor and Shatterstar, who are transgender, actually shared one of the first ever male kisses in Marvel Comics, so their relationship as a whole is already a huge defining moment for LGBTQ+ representation.
Besides, they are just truly cold. Rictor can manipulate the Earth and Shatterstar is just a sick superhuman with the ability to create portals, use shockwaves, and much more. These two are badass – can you imagine them having a couple in the MCU? They will be unstoppable.
Mystery and destiny
I mean, just the names together — Mystery and Fate — sound like the name of a romance novel, if we’re being honest. However, this couple was always meant to be. They even raised one of the fan favorite mutants, Rogue.
While Mystique was very much in the X-Men Movies, portrayed by Rebecca Romijn and Jennifer Lawrence in various films, we haven’t seen Destiny on the big screen. I’ve always found Mystique to be one of the most interesting X-Men, as she can look like any human she wants, but Destiny is pretty cool too – she literally can We see the future. I think having these two together in the future would be an absolute win for Marvel.
Cyclops and Northstar
Last but not least, we have to talk about Colossus and Northstar. Even though their relationship didn’t last forever in the comics, and Northstar eventually married someone else, it was still a great pairing for the time that it lasted and I think it would be fun to see something like that in the future. X-Men movie – or hear me out, maybe in Deadpool 3.
I mean, Deadpool Do Joke about Colossus’ sexuality a bit Deadpool 2 So who knows, it might end up being a hint towards something to come. But, what a day it would be – and you I know Wade Wilson was charging the hell out of them.
There really are so many awesome superheroes that are part of the LGBTQ+ spectrum, and it would be great to see their pairs come to life on the big screen for us all to enjoy. We hope to be able to experience that soon enough.
