Spoilers below for anyone who hasn’t watched yet YellowstoneFinal Episode “The Dream Isn’t Me,” So Beware!
in many ways, YellowstoneIt was the fifth season Milder for the Dutton family, even if the overall stresses of farm life remain always present and strong. I think we can put some of it in the calm before one or more storms, and it looks like John, Rip, and others are going to need to break out umbrellas, galoshes, and exit strategies for the upcoming Fifth Winter season.
Episode 507 set the stage for the midseason and beyond with a quartet of significant revelations and narrative changes that could make and/or break certain characters and familiar dynamics. And not in the usual way of “violently preventing bad people from doing all bad things.” Let’s take a look at how the Paramount Network drama is preparing for its winter hiatus.
Rip & Co. Going to Texas for an indefinite stretch
As if John’s entire business journey wasn’t already complicated enough by his abandonment of much of his gubernatorial duties, plus the death of Emmett Walsh, the plantation now faces another major multi-headed threat in the form of a potential outbreak of brucellosis. There aren’t any real upsides either. A positive diagnosis within the flock means that the entire shepherd must be put down. In addition, the entire pasture where the dead bison were found is now unusable for livestock, so a large portion of the herd would have to be moved south to Texas, so they could graze somewhere that wouldn’t ideally be cold and snowy.
Which means that unless something completely different happens in the mid-season finale, the bunhouse will lose some of its primary population for well over a year. Which means that some of the show’s main delivery people may have some long-distance issues in the near future, including: Rip & Beth, Teeter & Colby, and Ryan & Abby.
Although Beth has talked about flying in to meet Rib and staying at a hotel, and avoiding the “cowboy bullshit” that he and others would deal with, that wouldn’t really make sense over an extended period of time, considering she works in John’s office and needs Most likely to do an actual job. This is also supposed to be the case for Colby and Abby, as well as anyone Jake might be dating.
I wonder if this connects to the overall concerns about Rip’s death, and why he’s been smiling so much lately. with reason “because Yellowstone It sends him away from everything he has known and loved for so long. “I know I’m not smiling much right now.
Rip first sells his soul to John after accidentally killing a troublemaker
Speaking of Good ol’ Rip Wheeler, “The Dream Is Not Me” revealed another one of the most important moments in the character’s past, especially when it came to his relationship with Jon. While on coyote-watching missions, Rip and Rowdy get into a fight over the latter’s comments about Beth. Well, it was more than just a brawl, as Rowdy signed the death sentence by drawing out a knife during a fistfight.
However, Rip was definitely wrong here, slamming Rowdy’s face in with a rock and possibly destroying his insides as well. The fate of the injured ranch hand was essentially sealed once viewers heard his wet, labored breathing, and Rip probably should have heeded his advice by sticking to the lie that Rowdy had been trampled by a horse. Instead, he was true to John, thus establishing himself as the Duttons’ number one executor for the remainder of measurable time.
It’s not easy to connect Rip’s violent reaction here to Beth smashing a bottle over that sweet woman’s head at the Bozeman bar. What if they’re wrong about Rowdy being a drifter, and he’s actually connected to it My theory about Dutton being conned is long overdue?
Jimmy appears to come after John’s governor role
While he would have loved to remain happy thanks to a more active sex life, Jimmy now realizes that his dalliances have moved him forward from John and Beth’s momentum, with Sarah and Ellis pairing him up on the farm. placed under a conservation easement. This makes his new scheme with the stock market even more complicated, since it would require Montana (and John, more or less) to pay out about $4 billion in damages to those who previously invested in land development.
The legal details and terms behind all of this are well above my level of intelligence, so I can’t pretend to fully understand the complexity of this situation from either angle. However, i A.M. Smart enough to recognize Sarah’s broadsides during her final round of courting Jimmy, she once again coaxes him into attacking the governor’s office, bolstered by the notion that John’s actions are impeachable. If she can get her way, Jimmy will have the chance to take it all via a special election. Which he probably wouldn’t pull off, since we’re talking about Jimmy.
Beth tells Monica about her miscarriage
The bulk featured one of the episode’s most unique scenes YellowstoneFemale stars, including Kelly Reilly, Kelsey Aspel, Hussey Harrison, Piper Perabo, and Lainey Wilson. Quick banter soon gave way to one of those rare conversations centered solely on Beth and Monica. It was also a rare conversation where Beth was friendly, courteous, and forthright with personal details.
In this case, Beth may have bluntly brought up Monica and Case’s son’s deaths by saying that she knows what that feels like, having lost her child in the past. 100% not the same situation at all, on any level, but whatever brings the Dutton family members closer, I guess.
Obviously, the big upshot of this is not only does Monica know a bit more about her sister-in-law’s private life now, but someone else is now aware of Beth and Jamie’s darker shared experience, and believes Beth is hurting herself by keeping her inside. And while Jimmy and John clearly weren’t keen on publishing this story, Monica might not understand how serious this confession could be without all the facts. So if she happens to bring it to Kayce or, God forbid, to Rip directly, it could be the can of worms that sends Jamie to the train station, whether he’s scheduled to be governor or not.
