That was almost a quarter of a century ago Seinfeld The last episode aired, but it has proven to be very enduring in pop culture. Between syndication and live broadcast deals, people have consistently been able to catch and enjoy reruns since the series finale, and it has remained an important touchstone in modern sitcoms. With witty, groundbreaking writing, it’s funnier than ever – and it’s even better when former stars make fun references to their work.
Take, for example, this is great Twitter Today’s post from Jason Alexander, who memorably starred as George Costanza on the Emmy Award-winning show. NoSeinfeld The fan will have absolutely no idea what this post was about — a photo of Alexander with a moving truck that says “I finally found a dang file” — but those in the know will laugh at the callback to the beloved series:
If you don’t quite understand what’s going on here, I recommend revisiting Episode VIII SeinfeldSeason Five: The Barber. In the episode, George goes out for a job and impresses the interviewer with his ability to get on board quickly, but the conversation ends abruptly and the short, buxom bald man is left not knowing if he’s been hired. Knowing that his potential boss is going on vacation, he makes the decision to come in only for work, and as his first assignment he is given the “Penske File”.
Because George is an idiot, he has no idea what to do with said file. When the boss returns, he confirms that George did indeed get the job, but is baffled by the lack of progress, and the likable character ends up quitting, believing he has a job waiting for him at Penske (spoiler: he doesn’t).
Fifth season of Seinfeld Overall it was a memorable run for George Costanza, with the character becoming a hand model in “The Puffer Shirt”, converting to Latvian Orthodox in “Conversion”, pretending to be an aquatic scientist in “Marine Biologist”, and adhering to a new lifestyle in “The Opposite”. However, his arc in “The Barber” stands out as memorable – which speaks to the show’s overall brilliance.
If you are now in the mood to do a file Seinfeld Party, the good news is that all you need is a Netflix subscription, as the full run is available to stream (a fixture of the Netflix TV library).
