For a whole generation of Marvel fans, the sequence of notes that made it up X-Men: The Animated Series Unparalleled theme. The opening theme of the beloved animated series has persisted in the decades since it debuted, enthralling fans of all shapes and sizes. This includes a new orchestral cover of the theme – courtesy of some familiar names in the superhero space. A new video of cellist Tina Gu, best known for playing DC’s Wonder Woman theme, and violinist Mia Asano has made its way online, showing the duo covering X-Men Topic on their respective tools.
At the time of this writing, the video has over 100,000 likes on Instagram alone, earning praise from former X-Men artist Jim Lee.
will X-Men: The Animated Series Reboot?
In the coming years, the X-Men animated series will be revived in the form of X-Men 97, a Disney+ exclusive series that continues the adventures of its eclectic collection. As confirmed during a conference appearance earlier this year, this theme will certainly be part of the continuity – as it has already been used in live action in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness And the Ms. Marvel earlier this year.
“[The X-Men: The Animated Series theme song] It wasn’t necessarily a done deal when they were producing the new show. “The rights are all over the place,” consultant Eric Lewald said during an appearance at the Steel City convention in Pennsylvania. “I think a minor person had the rights to the music, so it was a bit of a negotiation for them. You obviously can’t do the new show without that song. But The guy who sold it knows the same thing, so I’m sure it was a high price.”
When will we see the X-Men in the MCU?
Aside from a few cameos and easter eggs, an alternate version of Charles Xavier / Professor X (Patrick Stewart) appears in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessHowever, the X-Men have yet to fully thrive in the MCU.
“I try not to think of it as me being the one giving it to them,” Michael Waldron, writer of the Multiverse of Madness, told ComicBook.com earlier this year. “We all do it together. Everyone in this sequence, it’s a collaboration with [director] Sam [Raimi]Definitely, [and] with the actors. I’m just trying to give them a nice foundation, to go in and bring these things to life. And jeez, they all knocked it out of the park.”
As Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige quipped to ComicBook.com in an interview earlier this year, we may not have to wait that long for the X-Men.
“Do you want to wait until Phase 10 for the X-Men?” Feige joked. “Well, this is longer than I want to wait. But I guess.”
