Margot Robbie appears to model her characters after animals, including Pitbulls and Honey Badgers

Actors find their inspiration in all kinds of places. Jared Leto is famous for the way he tries to inhabit a character even when the camera isn’t moving. Some, like Christian Bale, have been known to alter themselves physically in order to be in the right frame of mind. Perhaps Margot Robbie has a somewhat different tactic, in that she equates characters to animals and uses them to inspire her characters.

in appearance on tIt’s The Kelly Clarkson Show the Babylon Najma talked about her operation. The actress has a movement coach working with her, and she has since been nominated for an Oscar for her performance I’m Tonya. She explained how her performance as Tonya Harding was inspired by two animals, one on ice and one on it. Robbie said…

I didn’t go to drama school so I don’t know if that’s something everyone in drama school does. But that’s something I discovered then, it’s something I really started doing when it was me, Tonya. So this was the first time… I was a pitbull. With her figure skating, I wanted her heavy on her feet. I wanted the character to feel like the world was pressuring her all the time. But then on the ice is a mustang, a wild horse.
