Nvidia has announced that GeForce Now game streaming is coming to cars in 2023.

That’s potentially huge for both Nvidia’s business and the participating auto companies, which initially includes BYD, Hyundai Motor Group (including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis cars), and Polestar.

The highlight is the Nvidia Drive platform. The company discusses how Nvidia technologies help make smart cars smarter and safer. Vehicles with autonomous capabilities are also discussed. I’m not sure how I feel about cars that drive themselves, but they can make being on the road safer.

Nvidia Isaac is the company’s industrial robotics platform. Companies can use Nvidia technology to test their bots in the virtual world to see how they perform in the real world. Bots are complicated and this platform aims to make things simple. Not essential for consumers, but interesting nonetheless.

Nvidia discusses how the Ominiverse can be used to create avatars for the metaverse. The metaverse is… a dubious concept at best, so it’s still up in the air whether or not it’s more than just a weird fad in technology. But I suppose it’s best to give this project a chance.

The Nvidia RTX 40 series cards are also perfect for creators. We get a small demonstration of Nvidia Ominiverse, which is a scalable, multi-GPU real-time reference development platform for building and running metaverse applications. The demo we saw showed a group of creatives working on a project in real time. Very cool stuff!

Nvidia announces the first of its RTX 40 series laptops. This announcement isn’t necessarily a huge shock but it’s nice to see Ada Lovelace come to laptops. Nvidia says some of these laptops are more powerful than the PS5, which is definitely a big boast. We’ll likely see the RTX 40 series as the standard for laptops with discreet GPUs in 2023.

Big shocker here, but Nvidia officially announces the RTX 4070 Ti. As the rumor has it, this GPU is actually a discounted (or “off the market”) RTX 4080 12GB 12GB. This GPU will be available on January 5th for $799. This is a really good price!

GeForce Now, the company’s cloud streaming service, will now be powered by Nvidia RTX 40 series cards. The catch is that you need to be a definitive member of the subscription service in order to take advantage of the extra horsepower offered by the GPUs. Fortunately, existing members do not have to pay extra.

Games like Warhaven (pictured above), Thone, Liberty, and Atomic Heart are highlighted as titles that will use DLSS3. It’s hard to tell how well games run over DLSS3 from these videos, but we can say that they look pretty impressive when played on Nvidia’s GPUs.

We get a brief discussion about Nvidia DLSS and the games I used. DLSS makes games run more smoothly on many configurations. We got a small glimpse of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, previously a PlayStation exclusive. I predict we’ll see more PS exclusives on PC this year, with Nvidia leading the way in promoting games that run on its graphics cards.

The big show has begun. Nvidia kicks off the show by discussing its RTX 40 series cards. He also mentioned briefly that 2022 was a huge year for gaming. This makes sense considering that people can already buy the company’s graphics cards.
