AEW’s Jade Cargill extends winning streak and retains the TBS Title at Battle of the Belts V

The TBS Championship was on the line during tonight’s AEW Battle of the Belts V, as Jade Cargill put her unbeaten streak and her title against Skye Blue, who won the shootout for Cargill’s Championship. Blue was fine from the jump, though Cargill dominated the match for a while. Blue wasn’t quite out of it, and she’d come back strong and push the hero to her limits. Red Velvet would also appear, adding to the excitement of her own challenge for that TBS Championship, and while Blue looked like she might take the match, Cargill managed to pull off a great maneuver and counter her move to finishing point, picking up the win and retaining the championship.

Skye Blue went straight for Champion, but Cargill picked her up and tried to hit her down only to counter into a roll up. Cargill kicked out but Blue then managed to counter another move and rolled it again, though the champion kicked out and headed outside to regroup. Blue dodged another move and hit Cargill in the corner, but then was hit in the face with a hard shot and kicked in the ribs from the outside.

This kick appeared to do some damage, then Cargill taunted the opponent on the ramp before hitting a choke on the ramp. Cargill returned to the ring and started the count out on Blue, but then Red Velvet appeared on the entrance ramp. She didn’t say anything but Cargill kept taunting her and Blue.

Blue came back and beat the count, although she hit her head on all three pads in the corner. Cargill continued to attack, using the ropes to punish Blue and then distract the referee while Layla Gray got a shot. Cargill then picked up Blue and slammed her again, but Blue would show signs of life with a flurry of insult, including a kick to the champion’s knee and a hard kick to the face that knocked the champion out again.

Unfortunately, Cargill came back with a huge kick that made the competitor reel, and she ran out of the ring. At this point, Velvet walked to the ring and watched from ringside. She then slapped Gray across the face while Cargill set up Blue for Jaded, but the challenger countered and rolled the champion once again. Then he hit Blue Code Blue and got both counts, but the hero threw out and drove away.

Blue had some momentum and moved, getting a big kick before Cargill reversed her next move to Jaded and covered it for the win, retaining the TBS Championship. Velvet mocked her off the ramp and Cargill celebrated her move to 48 and 0.
