Austin Butler’s heartfelt speech paid tribute to Elvis Presley and the “beautiful” Lisa Marie entertainment

It was a big night for movie fans as a host of megastars took home some well-deserved accolades at the 80th Golden Globe Awards. Included in the list of winners is Austin Butler, who last year made a name for himself with a stunning performance in Elvis – Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic. And during his acceptance speech, the American superstar couldn’t help but praise his hero, the King of Rock of Roll.

After Elvis hits theaters in August 2022, Austin has received some amazing praise from the film industry. He even got the blessing of his ex-wife and daughter, Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie Presley.

As it turns out, these are the people Austin was so eager to thank during his acceptance speech for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama Award.

He told the Golden Globes audience, “Man, all my words leave me! I’m so grateful now that I’m in this room full of my heroes.” “Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, and your home to me,” he said directly to the Presleys. The cameras quickly panned to Priscilla and Lisa Marie, who were all smiles.

Austin paused before adding poignantly: “Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever.”

The 31-year-old actor later confirmed how much he loves Presley’s family to reporters. He said, “I just feel endlessly grateful to them for giving me the space to try and somehow capture the essence of this man who meant so much to them and that they loved so much.”

The star concluded his speech by thanking the man who imitated him in the biography.

Austin said, “Finally, Elvis Presley, you’ve been an icon and a rebel. And I love you so much.”

This isn’t the first time Austin has complimented Priscilla for her support. He recalled last year: “Meeting her before we started filming, and then seeing her after I saw the movie, it was very moving for me. Because she also dealt with all the misconceptions about Elvis from the day I met him.”

“I was so nervous when she was going to see the movie because she knows it better than anyone,” he added. “When I heard how I felt about it, it was more than just words. I felt so good.”

Austin seemed to have no reason to be nervous. Priscilla said the young actor got “Elvis to a T”.

She continued, “It was very emotional, my daughter [Lisa Marie Presley] I felt the same way… It’s unbelievable what that kid, Austin Butler, did. He spent two years studying about Elvis, so that was a bit of a shock to watch. Even some songs.

Lisa Marie also praised the actor. She wrote a lengthy Instagram post about how much she loves Austin’s portrayal of her father.

She wrote, “I want to take a moment to let you know that I’ve seen Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis twice now, and let me tell you it’s nothing short of amazing. Absolutely gorgeous.” (sic)

The 54-year-old added, “Austin Butler is the face and body of my dad’s heart and soul beautifully. In my humble opinion, his performance is unprecedented and finally done with precision and respect. (If he doesn’t get an Oscar for this, I’m going to eat my feet, haha.) You can. You feel and watch Baz’s pure love, care, and respect for my dad throughout this beautiful movie, and it’s finally something my kids and I can be proud of forever.”

Elvis is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video now.
