Tonight’s Draw: Friday’s $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot is the second highest in the game

Des Moines, Iowa – Friday the 13th may finally be someone’s lucky day. The Mega Millions jackpot has reached $1.35 billion – the second largest in lottery history – for a drawing set for Friday.

The lottery said in a press release Wednesday that the jackpot has gone up from $1.1 billion after Tuesday night’s drawing when no jackpot winner hit.

The lottery said the estimated jackpot ($707.9 million in cash) was surpassed only by the record lottery of $1.537 billion won in South Carolina in 2018.

“Now at $1.35 billion, the Mega Millions jackpot is moving ahead and making history as the second highest ever Mega Millions jackpot,” the lottery said. “Our lottery members raise money for many good causes, ranging from education to conservation programs. We are proud to support these efforts.”

The Mega Millions jackpot topped $1 billion after nearly three months with no winning ticket.

Mega Millions said the last $502 million jackpot was won on Oct. 14, when it won two cards from California and Florida. Since then, the lottery added, more than 33 million winning tickets have been sold, including 68 players who have taken home $1 million or more.

Six previous Grand Prix wins had been made on Friday the 13th – four of which were at Michigan, the statement said. And on Friday, the 13th awards were won in New York, Ohio and Rhode Island.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states, along with the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands.
