You’d better think we’re excited to finally get some form of update on Ted Lasso season 3. The hit Apple TV Plus was disappointingly absent in 2022, and after months of no new details, we found ourselves asking When is Ted Lasso’s third season coming out? Finally, we kind of have an answer.
Like many of the best streaming services, Apple TV Plus is currently ramping up its schedule for 2023. Among new and returning shows, it’s been announced that Season 3 of Ted Lasso will premiere in spring 2023.
Sure, this isn’t the firm release date we wanted, but at least we finally have a release window. Plus, with more than mid-January already past, spring is closer than you think.

Along with this release date update, Apple TV Plus also gave fans a first look at the upcoming season of the football sitcom in the form of a teaser image. The image shows Coach Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) and Nathan Shelley (Nick Muhammad) face-to-face in an elevator. Lasso has his dazzling smile, while Nathan seems considerably less friendly.
In the background is Robert Mannion (Anthony Head), the former owner of AFC Richmond and the show’s main antagonist. Behind it, you can also see the West Ham United crest indicating that the scene takes place at the English Premier League club’s training facility.
A somewhat murky release window and one image isn’t all that much to go on, but it’s the biggest update to Ted Lasso’s season three we’ve gotten since it was confirmed to happen in October 2020. And this one social media post has significantly raised our anticipation levels.
After all, Ted Lasso is almost universally considered one of the best TV shows on Apple TV Plus, and he even managed to crack my defenses after I initially tried to resist his charms.
What does this tell us about Ted Lasso’s third season?
Ted Lasso has always been a summer show, with its first season debuting in August, and the second in July. So in that regard, Ted Lasso season 3 is a departure from established tradition. However, whispers on the Internet have suggested he encountered this third season Significant delays in production (Opens in a new tab)so it was probably originally supposed to be first released last summer before being caught in the spring.
Looking closely at the teaser, it seems to reaffirm that the big conflict in Season 3 will be the showdown between Nate and Coach Lasso. The end of Ted Lasso’s second season saw Nate turn his back on AFC Richmond after he believed Lasso had neglected him on purpose and eventually dropped out to West Ham United. But at least Ted’s beaming face suggests there’s no hard feeling—on his part, at least.
The social caption reads, “It’s time to win it all,” a quote from Coach Lasso at the end of Season 1. Perhaps this is an indication that Richmond will struggle to win the Premier League title this season. It’s unclear who their direct rivals will be, but previous seasons have featured real football clubs such as Man City and it’s probably a good bet that West Ham, now coached by Nate, will be in the mix. Could historic clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool also participate?
For now, all of those questions will have to wait until spring, or at least until Apple TV Plus releases the first trailer for Ted Lasso season 3. Hopefully, we won’t wait too long for an extended prime of what’s to come. As for the show’s spring return, fingers crossed it’s early spring rather than a delay.
