Ghost Rider Creators tease the future of the series

Now a year at the latest Ghost rider In the series, Benjamin Percy and Corey Smith speed up their bikes on the long run. In a new long term interview on marvel website, the creators behind the hit series teased some of what readers can expect to see in the coming months on the title. Namely, those who have been keeping up with the comic will see the return of an iconic antagonist with a vengeful spirit.

“It’s all in Ghost rider He is always Mephisto, Mephisto, Mephisto. Readers feel numb about it. I felt the same way about Sabretooth’s Wolverine: It’s the big bad and the creators are always drawn to the clash between the two. So in this title, we took Sabretooth off the table completely by throwing it into a Krakoa hole,” Percy told House of Ideas. The idea was, to build his mythology off the stage, so that when Wolverine finally comes around might be particularly meaningful. What did you do in the meantime? Make up other villains who don’t see the spotlight as much, like Omega Red and Mikhail Rasputin.”

He added, “We’re doing something similar in Ghost rider. Of course he will fight Johnny Mephisto in the end, but let’s give some other villains a spin! When I read Bresson’s run, I felt that Blackheart was naturally very coveted during Johnny’s reign as King of Hell, so he aimed to dethrone Blaze and throw him into the dungeon, so to speak. Ryder heading in his latest story? “

Exactly when Mephisto’s return has yet to be seen, though Johnny Blaze will already have his hands full dealing with the return of the classic Ghost Rider character next month.

“We’re building the legend back up little by little,” Percy added. “If you check orders, you already know Danny Ketch is speeding towards Johnny Blaze in the side mirror. There’s a lot of mayhem waiting at the next exit ramp.”

Ghost rider Issue #11 is set for release on February 8.
