Mr. Peanut gets ready to be roasted in a Super Bowl teaser for Farmers

The farmers are set to shoot a Super Bowl ad where Mr. Peanut is being roasted. Now, the mascot won’t hit anything terrible, but he’ll take some light ribbing from a comedian during the big game. In a press release right away, Planters revealed that Roastmaster General Jeff Ross will be officiating the ceremony. Many football fans and people who watch the game for commercials are exasperated because the advertising trend seems to be towards actual products rather than various schemes and veiled gambling. (Let’s hope they don’t mention that time the Planters tried to turn Mr. Peanut into a baby, we all forgot about that trick and it probably should stay that way!) The company revealed a short teaser that you can catch up on below.

Today’s clip shows an animated version of Mr. Peanut trying to catch a glimpse of some of the jokes he’s going to run into from Ross. But, the roaster doesn’t have any of that and throws it out of there without a second thought. “You’re not allowed to hear the jokes until the barbecue,” Ross jokes with his mascot in top hats.

“No one knows more about the art of roasting than the Planters brand, and there is no legend more worthy of roasting than Mr. Peanuts,” Rafik Lundy, Planters Chief Marketing Officer, said in a statement. “We hope our fans enjoy delicious peanuts and a good laugh on game day.”

The company is also trying to recruit a second class of PeaNUTTERS to travel around the US in a giant peanut-shaped truck spreading cheer on behalf of the brand. You can still apply for this role on their website.
