“You see someone you imitate, you see someone who really is themselves, I always notice older people who have nothing to prove. They’re living their lives, they’re comfortable in their own skin, and that’s what I want,” Esposito revealed. Moff Gideon is a very complicated guy and I love playing him for a number of reasons… So I play him for the first two seasons as if he might be trying to write all the wrongs of the universe and the galaxy, the world he’s in, by being in charge. But he knows everything and nobody knows how. So he has A strong network of information, which is great, but what does he really want? You don’t really know, except for the kid. I think part of my success is playing villainous characters with a human touch, who are very intelligent and very aware of themselves and the world around them.”
Regarding his personality boyswho comes face-to-face with the murderous Homelander more than once, added, “I mean, we think what makes a good villain is that he wants to take over the world. And I have some of those in Star Wars Moff Gideon’s life. But when you have a guy who works for a company, it’s like Scary. And so Stan Edgar scared me a little bit because he’s fearless.”
