The iPhone 15 Ultra or iPhone 15 Pro Max display could be brighter than its main competitor, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, according to new rumors.
Details shared by Shrimp Apple Pro (Opens in a new tab) And Orexda (Opens in a new tab) On Twitter, they’re coming together to suggest that the top-tier iPhone 15 could use a display, made by Samsung, capable of an astonishing 2,500-bit brightness.
This follows another rumor saying that the more expensive iPhone 15 models will have a new screen made from Samsung Display which is the two latest generations of the one used in the new Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, OreXda admits that it’s not sure if the screen it’s talking about is the M13 panel mentioned in this previous report.
Apple has claimed that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max can reach 2,000 nits of brightness, higher than the 1,750 nits Samsung promised for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. In our own tests, the highest we were able to get out of the iPhone 14 Pro was 1,565 nits, though it’s still higher than the S23 Ultra’s 1,444 nits.
2,500 nits makes the already bright iPhone 14 series screens easier to read in bright conditions. Although it would be a shame if Apple only kept it for the Pro Max/Ultra model; It will give users another reason to go for them instead of the regular iPhone or Pro.
We still have some time to wait until the expected debut of the iPhone 15 series in September. Other iPhone 15 rumors so far include a curved redesign, USB-C charging ports and a possible telephoto camera for the Pro Max.
