Police are searching for a Texas mother who left her young children alone for two months

Police are looking for the mother of a 12-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy who were left alone for two months late last year at their home in Roman Forest, Texas. Police in Texas said in a Facebook post that the mother, Raven Yates, is believed to be in the Mobile, Alabama area.

The Romanian Forest Police said an arrest warrant had been issued for two counts of abandonment without intending to return.

On November 14, 2022, the father of the 12-year-old girl called the police when he became concerned that the children were alone in the house, the police said. The father, who lives in California, told police he was ordering food to a Texas home for children when family members told him Yates had been seen alone in Mobile, Alabama.

Officials said the father became suspicious after the conversation that their mother had left them alone in Texas, and after contacting Romanian Forest Police, they flew to Texas from California. When the police arrived at the house, they found the children alone inside without food or medical supplies.

“There was no food in the house. Everything was emptied,” said the Romanian forest police chief Stephen Carlyle told WEAU-TV. “There were some dried beans and some spices, that’s it.”

Police said the house was left in deplorable conditions, and the 3-year-old’s bedroom stank of urine.

Investigators said the girl did not call the police because she was afraid her father would take her and leave her baby brother behind. Police said the two children’s parents had different fathers.

The two children were not enrolled in school, and police said they were alone from Sept. 28 through Nov. 14 — nearly two months in the rented home in Texas.

“A 12-year-old can’t take care of a three-year-old for a long period of time,” Carlisle said. WEAU 13. “This is dangerous.”

Police said the two children are said to be safe with family members in Mobile, Alabama. Police said the Romanian Forest Police are working with the mobile police to find the missing mother.
