On Thursday, a Georgia district attorney released some of A Special Report of the Grand Jury on efforts by former President Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The report found that there was no “widespread fraud” that could overturn the presidential election.

“We found through unanimous voting that there was no widespread fraud in the 2020 Georgia presidential election that could result in the annulment of that election,” the report said.

However, the report also stated that “the majority of the grand jury believes that perjury may have been committed by one or more witnesses before it” and recommended that the district attorney seek “appropriate indictments” for crimes for which “the evidence” is compelling. “

The office of Fulton County District Attorney Fanny Willis on Monday was ordered by a judge to release three sections of the lengthy report — the introduction, conclusion and the part in which the grand jury discusses its concerns that some witnesses may have lied under oath during testimony.

The remainder of the report was ordered to be kept confidential until prosecutors completed their investigation.

Media organizations including CBS News argued that the full report should be released immediately, but Fulton County Judge Robert McBurney largely dismissed their efforts.

The grand jury, made up of 23 Georgians with three alternates, interviewed 75 witnesses as it investigated efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn the presidential election. They acted as an investigative body that could recommend charges but could not charge. In their report, they recommended his release, according to McBurney.

Willis’ office noted in court filings that others faced scrutiny in the investigation, including a group of 16 Georgia Republicans who participated in the investigation. Alternative voter scheme Trump’s former attorney Rudy Giuliani.
