Modest crime: A woman is accused of robbing the left infant of Dillard’s child while fleeing the scene in the Deerbrook Mall, police said.

Humble, Texas (KTRK) – Police say a woman gave up her daughter to save herself after committing a crime at a Dillard’s store.

Tuesday, The Humble Police took to Facebook to share photos of the woman And ask for help identifying it. Police said she is suspected of stealing $600 worth of clothing from a department store inside the Deerbrook Mall along with her daughter.

“That messed up a lot, bro,” said one shopper, Bruce Evans. “I’m kind of worried about the kid. The kid has a spoiled mother.”

According to Lieutenant Michael Nansel, the woman was also with a friend, and they were hiding the stolen items in the baby’s stroller. An off-duty deputy was working an extra job and stopped them. The man was arrested, but the mother took off with her baby and stroller.

“The deputy chased into the parking lot, pushing the stroller out of the way and running towards the car,” Nunsel explained. “The deputy made the decision to save the child, rather than arrest the robbery suspect. So, he grabbed the child, returned the child, detained the man, and called us.”

Nancel said they received many tips. The mother faces a misdemeanor charge of theft and possible child endangerment or abandonment. Public opinion was harsh.

Weightlifting, shopper Christona Papillone said, “I think we need to call CPS and take the baby because, no, that’s just not good parenting.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Humble Police Department at 281-446-7127 and refer to Case No. 23-000633.
