Helen Mirren left “confused” by Shazam! Wrath of the Gods Story | Movies | entertainment

While the DC Studios movie slate is currently a bit of a mess, the next one in Shazam! The series is just around the corner. Shazam! Fury of the Gods brings back Billy Batson and his team of orphans in a new battle; This time, they are fighting the gods. One of them, Hespera, was played by the legendary Helen Mirren – but she had some problems with the script.

Mirren appeared on The Graham Norton Show earlier this week to discuss the superhero movie. During her conversation with the Irish talk show host, she admitted that a lot of the film’s events had gone over her head.

“Don’t ask me about the plot,” she laughed. “It’s too complicated!” It’s no surprise that she feels this way, since the premise of the movie is a little crazy. Teenage Billy has been given the power of the Greek gods and can transform into a superhero by shouting the magic word: Shazam!

Merrin’s character enters the fray to battle Batson and his comrades, but this responsibility came equipped with some costume bags.

“We’re angry gods in incredibly heavy costumes. It was so hot and uncomfortable,” the Oscar-winning actor explained.

Mirren is 77 years old, so you’d be forgiven for thinking her sexy days were over in terms of cinema. Apparently not.

However, these stunts came at a price. “I did some stunts, but I broke my finger,” said Mirren.

Despite literally breaking a superhero movie bone, she explained how she was “incredibly brave” about the whole ordeal. She explained that she “didn’t say anything or complain”.

She added, “I wanted to be a real ‘amazing’ person.”

Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F Sandberg recently talked about bringing Mirren on board screen rant, where he explained how he expected her to have a certain kind of energy in the group. But it actually exceeded his expectations.

“You kind of have expectations,” he remembers. Like: “Oh, it’s Lady Helen entering the group!” But the first day she came in, she was like, “Yeah! We need more p**sy power in the group! We are here now!”

Sandberg added, “I was like, ‘Oh, okay! ‘” “

Shazam! Fury of the Gods hits theaters on March 17, 2023.

The Graham Norton Show airs Friday, 24 February 2023, at 10:40pm on BBC One.
