Boy poured boiling water: 8-year-old Houston burned, 9-year-old scarred by a game

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – One mother said she devastated her son, who was scalded by boiling water by a 9-year-old and would bear the scars of that encounter for the rest of his life.

“It is not normal for my child, who is 8 years old, to suffer,” said Ebony Skerry.

Scurry told ABC13 that her 8-year-old son Donald, whom his family calls Junior, was playing with his 9-year-old neighbor when they had an argument over a wireless toy. Junior told his mother that the 9-year-old entered the house, took a cup of boiling water, and walked back outside.

“You come and pour boiling hot water on the side of his face,” Scurry said.

Junior went home and called his mom, who was at work. Junior said he was fine, and when Scurry got home his face looked fine, but the next morning when Scurry went to check on him it was a different sight.

“It was like, ‘What am I doing?'” I called my aunt and said, “What do I do?”

Junior was taken to Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital, where he was diagnosed with second- and third-degree burns.

On the way, ABC13 met Dynasty Williams, the mother of the 9-year-old.

“When (I saw) his face, I was like, ‘Oh my God. ‘ I couldn’t even believe it,” Williams said.

This encounter had been building for some time, Williams said, claiming that Donald scratched her daughter’s face and pulled her hair. However, she does not approve of what her daughter has done.

“She feels bad about it. She regrets it. I don’t know if she knew it would be that cruel,” Williams said.

Regardless, Scurry says she wants to see some form of repercussion.

“Are you going to tell me no one is held accountable for that?” quiz.

Houston Police stated that this is an open investigation, but according to the District Attorney’s office, under Texas law, a child under the age of 10 cannot face legal repercussions, has not been recognized as a juvenile, and there are no exceptions.

Scurry disagrees.

“Now, if it was by accident, I’d be more understanding, but that was like premeditation,” Scurry said.
