Orange County, Texas (KTRK) – Law enforcement confirmed that the murder suspect was in the process of being extradited after his arrest in Southeast Texas.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office officials said 20-year-old Darian Hall is accused of stabbing to death 30-year-old DeAndre Nicholas.
Just before 3 a.m. Monday, investigators said, they responded to a 911 call of a bloodied man at 450 Cypress Station Drive in northern Harris County.
Deputies said they found Nicholas with multiple stab wounds and he was taken to hospital, where he died.
HCSO said Nicholas was stabbed in a nearby park and walked to the side of the road, where he collapsed.
An ABC affiliate in Beaumont, KBMTreported that suspect Drian Hall was arrested Monday in Orange County, Texas, which is about 100 miles from Harris County, on charges of public intoxication after deputies spotted him “acting strangely” on the side of the road.
Hall was reportedly acting strangely, slurring his words and had a large amount of blood in his car.
The Harris County District Attorney’s office confirmed that Hall was charged with first degree murder on Monday. The HCSO said Hall is in the process of being handed over to Harris County from the Beaumont area.
At this time, officials have not said if the couple knows each other. Investigators said they are reviewing evidence between the victim and Hall.
Nicholas’ friends are posting on social media about his tragic death. ABC13 spoke to one of his friends, and she said she wanted justice. Another friend ABC13 spoke to on camera said Nicholas was a ball of joy, a genuine and loving person.
They told ABC13 their friend deserves justice.
Hall’s indictment documents have not yet been made public, which leaves many wondering why this is the case.
