Apparent stampede at concert in Rochester, NY leaves one dead, several injured, and two seriously

Officers responding to reports of a shooting at a concert in Rochester, New York, late Sunday night found several wounded but none with gunshot wounds, police said, adding that there was “no evidence” of any shooting at the scene.

Instead, they said, the casualties in the main street armory appeared to have been sustained “as a result of a large crowd rushing towards the exits after accounts from individuals hearing what they thought were gunshots.”

Three of the injured were taken to hospital, where a 33-year-old woman died and the others were listed in critical condition. Police said six others were transported in private cars to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Alec Richardson, of CBS Rochester affiliate WROC-TV He wrote on Twitter that he had been told “at least three women were trampled when party-goers left the venue.” He said he “also saw a firefighter perform CPR, presumably on a victim at the scene”:
