The X-Men set their spin on the Galaxy’s Baby Groot vigilante

While everyone loved Baby Groot in 2017 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the X-Men have shown that they can deliver the same kind of awesomeness in a member of their team. Unfortunately, the X-Men are wrapped up in a very unpleasant story involving the alien Brood. A horde of parasitic monsters is spreading across the galaxy, with the X-Men stepping up to stop them after ambushing Cyclops’ father, Corsair. After the X-Men manage to rescue Corsair, they attempt to flee with other survivors of the Brood attack. During the rescue mission, one of the men of the Five originally transformed into a miniature version of themselves, similar to Baby Groot.

X-Men #20 is from the creative team of Gerry Duggan, Stefano Caselli, Federico Blee, VC’s Clayton Cowles, Tom Muller, and Jay Bowen. Cyclops, Synch, Talon, Firestar and Iceman try to help a group of survivors leave a planet overrun by the Brood. Cyclops is fully stocked with their escape ship, but just wait for Synch, Firestar, Talon, and Iceman to finish keeping the Brood at bay. In his icy form, Snowman can’t get the Brood in, so he volunteers to stay behind to get the Brood off their backs.

Just as everyone was safe on the ship, Talon once again contacted the Iceman to let him know that they would be back to save him. However, a small voice responds, saying that he made it on the ship just fine. Of course, the voice belongs to the Iceman, who sent a little piece of it on the ship so as not to be left behind. “I will grow when I get a little more moisture,” says Eiseman. His tiny figure is reminiscent of Baby Groot, who starred in his own series of Disney+ shorts, aptly titled I grow old.
