Ke Huy Quan won the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role Oscars Sunday evening, he delivered a moving speech before being honored.
“My mom is 84, and she’s home watching me. Mom, you just won an Oscar!” Chuan said, kicking off loud applause and cheers from the audience.
“I started my journey on a boat,” Kwan continued. “I spent a year in a refugee camp and somehow ended up here on the biggest stage in Hollywood. They say stories like this only happen in movies. I can’t believe it happens to me. This, this, is the American Dream.”
Quan’s victory was the most recent in Wide range of awards About the “Everything Everywhere Every Once” star, who garnered wide acclaim and popular acclaim for his performances in Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s film.
Quan has been known for rocking acceptance speeches as he bagged award after award at major awards ceremonies this year. The actor delivered his remarks with his trademark candor after winning his Oscar Sunday night.

Kwan’s turn as the devoted husband and business partner of an overworked laundry owner, played by fellow Oscar nominee Michelle Yeoh, marked an inspiring return for the actor, who walked away from the big screen in the mid-1990s after rising to prominence as a child. Actor in the 1980s movies ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ and ‘The Goonies’.
“Dreams are something you have to believe in,” he said Sunday night. “I almost gave up. For all of you, please keep your dreams alive. Thank you, thank you so much for welcoming me back. I love you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
