Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A man will spend the rest of his life in prison without parole after being found guilty of killing his wife and her lover in their southwest Houston home in 2018.
Jordi Husein Sujanović, 46, a Bosnian immigrant, shot and killed his wife, Adriana Perez, and her boyfriend, Omar Santamaria Ruiz, on October 2, 2018.

According to a statement from the Harris County District Attorney’s office, Soljanovic was a long-haul truck driver and installed a secret camera in his home, which he reportedly monitored while he was driving. It was on camera that he saw Perez and Santamaria Ruiz at home. This is when he came back and killed both of them in the master bedroom closet.
Hearing the gunshots, the Soljanović and Perez children woke up. After the shooting, Soljanovic and his adult son transported the bodies to Louisiana. Santamaria Ruiz’s body was dumped in the woods outside of Natchitoches, Louisiana, while Perez’s body was dumped near the Atchafalaya River outside Baton Rouge, the release said.
The 21-year-old son of Soljanovic pleaded guilty in 2022 to tampering with evidence, a corpse, in exchange for a five-year prison sentence.
After the shooting, authorities said Sujanović sold his home in Houston and fled to Mexico City with his two young daughters, a son, and a 16-year-old daughter. Upon learning of the double murder charge, Sujanović attempted to travel with the children to Bosnia.
Sujanovic was arrested in London, from where he was subsequently returned to Houston and arrested by the Homeland Security Service and the FBI.
“This man killed two people, one of whom was the mother of his children, and tried to flee the country to escape responsibility,” said Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg. “We know that domestic violence can escalate into murder, which is why it is so important to seek justice for victims in such cases.”
After an eight-day trial, Sujanović was found guilty of premeditated murder and sentenced automatically.
