UFC Champion Leon Edwards meets Tom Holland’s Marvel Spider-Man

Men’s Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards successfully defended his title against opponent Kamaru Usman at UFC 286, but that wasn’t the only event of the champ’s night. Edwards scored ahead of his opponent on two of the three scorecards and ultimately sealed the victory, but he also had something to celebrate after the fight, meeting up with Marvel’s Spider-Man star Tom Holland. Edwards sees him backstage and yells “Spider-Man!” Holland introduced some of his family and congratulated him on the big win. The two then posed for a photo together, and you can find the full video below.

Holland introduced the Spider-Man trilogy to the MCU, and concluded with the blockbuster No Way Home. Now fans are excited to see where he appears next, and recent rumors suggest he might be in Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie. We’ll have to see if that pans out, but in No Way Home fans got all three Spider-Men movies in one, and in an interview with the Official Hardcover Movie Special, he revealed which of their films he watched the most.

“I mean, I could talk for hours about (their influence), but I remember seeing both movies when I was younger and was very intrigued by the idea of being Spider-Man,” Holland said. “For me, it was about taking that childhood dream and putting it into my narrative. Kind of remembering how I felt as a kid watching them do it, to remembering how excited I was, and putting that into my Peter Parker. Visual [Andrew Garfield’s] The first Spider-Man is more than any movie I’ve ever seen in the cinema. I must have seen that movie five times… To me, it was just that weird thing he did, which is so much fun. I could talk about this for a long time.

“It was fun at rehearsal. [Tobey Maguire] He will talk about something he was clearly thinking about while making his movies and [Andrew Garfield] He would talk about something he was obviously thinking but I never thought about. It was interesting to think of the character that way. I think about it my own way, so it was nice to hear their opinion on how they would handle a given situation.”

For Edwards, attention is turning to who his next opponent will be now as he (most likely) has put the feud with Osman to rest. After the fight Osman said, “London, you’ve got yourself a hellish man, and a great champion.” Here are the full results from UFC 286 (trans ESPN).
