Expansion joint obscuring the incoming Eastex Highway, SkyEye video shows

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A piece of steel is seen impacting the Eastex Highway on Wednesday morning, according to SkyEye video.

The widening blocks the middle inbound lane at Rankin Road, near George Bush Intercontinental Airport. It gets stuck in the middle of the highway, acting as a speed bump.

The crash was first reported around 5:53 a.m., according to Houston Transtar. At about 6:30 a.m., traffic was backed up for about two miles, according to SkyEye video.

Drivers are urged to take the Hardy Toll Road as an alternative route.
