Friendswood brother stabbed: Austin Wittenberg charged with murder in fatal stabbing of Nicholas Myers during fight, police say

Friendswood, TX (KTRK) – A Friendswood man has been charged with first degree murder in the fatal stabbing of his half-brother.

Friendswood police responded to a disturbance at a home at 16700 Hibiscus Lane block just before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

At the scene, officers found an unconscious man lying in the corridor who appeared to have been stabbed in the chest.

The man was taken to HCA Clear Lake Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m., according to police. Investigators have identified the victim as 27-year-old Nicholas Myers.

Officers arrested the man’s half-brother, 22-year-old Austin Wittenberg, at the scene and he was subsequently charged with murder.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that the verbal riot escalated into a physical fight between the two brothers.

Police said Wittenberg remains in the Harris County Jail and his bond amount has not yet been determined. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
