Jerry “The King” Lawler returns to WWE television during Andy Kaufman’s induction into the Hall of Fame

WWE is inducting its 2023 Hall of Fame class tonight, a class that includes Stacy Keibler, The Great Muta, Tim White, and Rey Mysterio. It also includes Andy Kaufman, so it was only fitting that the presentation also include the WWE Legend synonymous with Kaufman’s foray into wrestling. That would be Jerry “The King” Lawler, who suffered a stroke earlier this year and has been recovering after returning home from the intensive care unit. Lawler appeared on the video screen and expressed his desire to be there in person, but it was great to see him look better on his road to recovery. We wish Jerry Lawler all the best and a continued recovery.

โ€œWell, I sure hope I can be with you all tonight to celebrate this unforgettable night,โ€ Lawler said. I asked my very dear friend Jimmy Hart to induct him into the Hall of Fame. And don’t forget Jimmy, this was going to be the biggest night of his life.”

Later, Kaufman’s family took to the stage and his brother told a story about how it happened They’ll watch wrestling on TV. “We imitated wrestling, and our twin bed was the ring. Andy let me put him in the lock. These are some of my early memories of my brother. Then his sister Carol said “Andy saw the beauty in this world and that’s why he ignored all the people who told him to stop wrestling.” Who told him it was bad for his career? He did it anyway because he loved her, just as he loved her all.

Lawler’s family released an update on Lawler after news of his condition broke, writing, “Update on Jerry: After suffering a massive stroke Monday. He’s now recovering at Fort Myers Hospital, Florida. His speech is limited, but with rehab he’s made a full recovery. Thanks everyone.” On continuing prayers and will return in the near future.โ€

Jim Ross previously spoke with Lawler after he was in the hospital, sharing an update on his friend on Twitter. Ross wrote: “I had a very brief conversation with @JerryLawler tonight. He’s clearly vulnerable but I can understand his affected speech. Jerry’s outlook is positive but he needs all our thoughts and prayers. #LoveYaKing”

We wish Lawler all the best, and congratulate the Kaufman family on Andy’s WWE Hall of Fame Induction.
