street. Petersburg, Florida – The body of a two-year-old boy from Florida, who was the subject of a frantic search after his mother was killed, was found in a lake in the jaws of an alligator, police said.
Saint Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway said the boy’s father, 21-year-old Thomas Mosley, will be charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the killings of the boy’s mother, 20-year-old Passion Jeffrey, and their girlfriend. Young son Tylen Mosley.
Researchers, including dive teams and officers using drones, have been searching extensively for the boy since his mother’s body was discovered in their apartment earlier this week and he was nowhere to be found.
“We’re sorry it ended this way,” Holloway said during a news conference on Friday evening.
Holloway said officers searching for a young child in a lake a few miles from the apartment complex noticed an alligator “with something in its mouth” that they quickly realized was the body of a child. They shot the creeper, who dropped his corpse.
“We were able to recover Taylin’s body intact,” the chief said. The crocodile has been euthanized.
Holloway said Thomas Moseley was hospitalized with cuts to his hands and arms and refused to speak to investigators. He does not yet have a lawyer to speak for him.
“The father does not speak to us,” he added.
Jeffrey, who worked at a CVS store, and her son were last seen by family members around 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday. Police said that around 8:30 p.m. neighbors heard a loud bang near their apartment but no police were called.
The next day, Jeffrey’s mother calls the apartment complex’s property manager after not hearing from her daughter. That’s when they found her dead at what Holloway described as an “extremely violent crime scene” where Geoffrey had been stabbed multiple times.
Police have not revealed how Taylin Mosley was killed or if the crocodile played any role.
Thomas Mosley went to his mother’s house around 9 p.m. on Wednesday with injuries to his arms and hands, Holloway said, and then admitted himself to a local hospital, where he stayed Friday night.
Family members said Jeffrey and Tylen just moved into the apartment complex about a month ago.
