OnePlus’ Nord lineup already includes some of the The best cheap phones There, so the arrival of a promising new model with premium features at a not-so-stellar price certainly catches our eye. And at £299 – just under $375 at the current exchange rate – the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite numbers a lot of attention when it arrives on April 20th… if you’re in the right part of the world.
Along with the completely off-the-tongue name, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite features a 108MP camera that offers more than double the megapixels of the Samsung Galaxy S23’s main camera. Megapixels may not be everything, but this is a noteworthy feature in a budget camera phone.
Here’s what else we know about the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite and why we’re eager to try this budget phone when it ships later this spring.
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite price and availability
As mentioned above, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite debuts at £299 / €329 for a model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There is a hybrid SIM/microSD card slot if you want to expand the storage space on the phone.
The phone is scheduled to ship in Europe and Asia on April 20. There’s no US availability listed at this point, though OnePlus hasn’t been heard of bringing Nord devices to the US under a different name. For now, though, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite is only slated to be released in other parts of the world.
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite: under the hood
Once you look beyond the 108MP main camera, another OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite feature is the phone’s support for fast charging, a staple of inexpensive OnePlus phones. In the case of the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite, you’ll be able to charge the device’s 5,000mAh battery at 67W — twice as fast as the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite.
At 67W, the new Nord phone should be able to charge an 80% drained battery after half an hour. While it’s not quite as fast as the flagship OnePlus 11 — this phone charges almost fully after 30 minutes thanks to its 80W speed — it’s still an impressive claim that we’re looking forward to testing.
Of course, compromises have to be made somewhere for a phone at this price. OnePlus Nord CE 3 features a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor that won’t break any performance benchmarks. The 6.7-inch screen only has a resolution of 1080p, although you can increase the refresh rate to 120Hz. We believe this is not an adaptive refresh rate.
In what seems like a retro twist, the CE 3 will have a headphone jack, but OnePlus also promises dual stereo speakers with “200% Ultra Volume mode.” The phone will be available in two colors, Chromatic Gray and the more exciting Pastel Lime color.
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite: Outlook
UK bargain hunters will be excited to see if the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite’s main camera can stand up to other low-cost camera phones. (Unfortunately, the macro and depth sensors that make up the rest of the rear camera array are much less impressive.) And we’d be willing to test the phone to see how it mixes a handful of premium features for a low overall price. .
The only other question hanging over the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite is whether the phone will make it to America, joining other low-cost Nord devices like the OnePlus Nord N300.
