The next generation Motorola Razr Flip could double down on its offering and challenge Samsung’s lead for the best foldable phone. The new prototype design is presented by MySmartPrice (Opens in a new tab) We suggest that the fourth generation of Motorola’s clamshell smartphones will launch with two speakers, the standard Motorola Razr 2023 redesigned and redesigned as the “Razr Lite” and a premium option called the “Razr Plus”.
A collaboration between MySmartPrice and OnLeaks (Opens in a new tab) It recently revealed unofficial renderings of a device referred to as the Motorola Razr Lite. The renders show a dual-lens rear camera setup next to the cover display, an LED flash unit below the camera sensors, slim bezels around the sides of the screen, and a smaller external display compared to previous models.
So… Today, I can reveal that #Motorola will release not one but two #Razr phones this year! And here comes the first look at this foldable phone that I assume will be revealed as the Vanilla #Razr2023 or more likely #MotorolaRazrLite, on behalf of @mysmartprice https://t.co/MQO4C7poL6 pic.twitter.com/Gvuf7hGPYcApril 15, 2023
The external screen extends across the entire width of the device, but takes up about a quarter of the phone’s total space when folded. This is much smaller than the Motorola Razr 2022.
Motorola might take a page out of Samsung’s book there, as the Razr Lite’s design is more in line with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 in terms of practical space. How this “lite” version might differ from previous generations of the rumored Razr Plus is still unclear. But looking at the design, this model seems to be aiming to undercut the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.
What’s more interesting is that these renders suggest that the major updates already rumored by Motorola’s latest generation of foldable phones — a larger cover screen, two-tone color designs, and improved under-the-hood technology — will be exclusive to the Plus model. There’s no word on pricing yet, but Motorola will likely use these upgrades to justify the Razr Plus’ higher price point compared to the Razr Lite.
Of course, take all of this with a grain of salt. MySmartPrice notes that the official marketing name hasn’t been confirmed, so the Razr Lite name may not stick and Motorola will call it the Razr 2023.
MySmartPrice also wrote: “It is noteworthy that the design renderings are based on realistic, low-quality images of a test-stage prototype.” “Therefore, it is possible that some of the details shown in these renderings will differ slightly compared to the final product.”
Motorola is expected to release its fourth generation of foldable smartphones in August, so we’ll likely learn more as that date gets closer.
