3 killed in an American raid on ISIS fighters in Syria

US forces launched a raid against ISIS militants in the northwest of the country Syria on Sunday, according to a US official.

Three are killed in the operation, and the US is assessing their identities. The official stated that there were no casualties among the US forces.

“The raid resulted in the possible death of a senior ISIS leader and operational planner responsible for planning terrorist attacks in the Middle East and Europe,” Joe Buccino, a spokesman for the US Central Command, told ABC News in a statement.

Earlier this month, US forces killed a “senior ISIS leader” in a raid in northwestern Syria, US Central Command announced.

The military identified the commander as Khaled Eid Ahmed al-Jabouri, who it said was responsible for planning attacks in Europe and Turkey, and developing the ISIS leadership network.

A statement from US Central Command said at the time, “The death of Khaled Eid Ahmed al-Jabouri will temporarily disrupt the group’s ability to plan external attacks.”

The United States has nearly 900 troops in Syria as part of its efforts to defeat ISIS in the region. In recent years, US forces have killed or captured many ISIS leaders in the country.
