Sony has confirmed a new PS5 bundle that is sure to please fans of the beloved RPG Final Fantasy.
This latest PS5 bundle will include a standard PS5 console and a digital copy of Final Fantasy 16. The bundle will be released on June 22, the same day as the game, and although not yet confirmed, will likely retail for $559 / £539 / AU$904 , which is a slight saving compared to the full cost of the console ($499) and a copy of the game ($69) if purchased separately.
An additional bundle will also be available with the PS5 Digital Edition console. Expect this to retail for around $459, and also includes Final Fantasy 16 via an in-box coupon code. These packages have been confirmed for the Southeast Asia region via PlayStation Blog (Opens in a new tab) But we expect it to be released globally as well.
The Final Fantasy PS5 bundle will be the fourth official console bundle released by Sony. Previous compilations include packs launched to celebrate the releases of flagship exclusive titles Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarök in 2022. There was also a Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart pack released last summer, though that pack never made its way. to the United States
Besides the PS5 bundle, Sony confirmed the plans (Opens in a new tab) For the release of a limited edition 16-issue Final Fantasy DualSense wireless controller, as well as a set of black controller skins decorated with artwork from the game. Unfortunately, for now these will only be available in Japan but we hope a global release will be announced in due course.
Final Fantasy 16 is one of the most anticipated PS5 games of 2023, so it seems like a smart move for Sony to bundle the console with a copy of the game. It’s also another reminder that the PS5 restocking nightmare seems to be over already. The days of endlessly updating retailer listing pages and following dozens of Twitter accounts checking stock seem like a distant memory. That is until the PS5 Pro launches and the cycle starts over.
If you want to see Final Fantasy 16 in action before committing to the bundle, more than 25 minutes of gameplay was recently shown at live broadcast status (Opens in a new tab). This comprehensive demo shows the vast game world and action-packed combat. In addition, it also introduces the game’s new protagonist, Clive Rosefield. Final Fantasy 16 is certainly shaping up to be one of the most impressive entries in the long-running franchise to date.
