A North Carolina woman warns drivers to be careful after a rock is thrown at a car

Asheville, North Carolina – Ordinary driving has become a traumatic experience for an Asheville woman after she says someone deliberately threw a large rock from an embankment at her car.

Marisol Alonzo and her daughter were driving home at night over the weekend when they drove under a bridge on Interstate 26 and heard a startling noise. When I pulled over, I realized something had smashed its sunroof and passenger-side mirror.

Alonzo said she immediately called the police, who took pictures of the damage. They told her they weren’t sure what happened.

“At that point, maybe a piece of cement came off the old bridge, or somebody threw something at us,” he said. I told WLOS.

Alonzo said she returned the next morning to investigate and found pieces of rock.

“That’s when I found this big rock. I mean what’s left of the rock to whoever threw this at my car,” she said.

Alonzo filed a report with the police, who told her it was an isolated incident. Police said the bridge had no cameras, so finding the suspect would be difficult.

It warns other drivers to be careful when driving under bridges.

“I mean, you’re driving 65 an hour on the highway, and you’re just focused on the road and not on the top of the bridge, but at this point, that’s what I do,” Alonso said.

Still thankful nothing happened to her or her daughter.
