Small Fortune review: Well paced, well acted and very familiar | Movies | entertainment

Writer-director Adam Berry carries a bag of cash in Canada’s Prince Edward Island where quirky locals speak an unusual accent that nods to waves of Irish immigration.

Kevin Doucet (Stephen Oates) finds thousands of convenient plastic Canadian dollars while harvesting a seaweed called Irish moss.

With his wife (Lian Balaban) expected and prices plummeting to rock bottom, he decides to hide her away in his shack.

But after a gangster hits the beach, the dead bodies start piling up and Kev faces a moral dilemma. It’s well paced, well behaved, and very familiar, no matter the location.
